PE/DANCE & INTRO II
Our Introduction to Dance Class (Level I) | PE/Dance is designed to give dance students the opportunity to complete a PE credit through dancing, and to allow dancers a flavor of various dance genres. This class focuses on ballet fundamentals, jazz, modern and hip hop. Dancers will leave this class with a basic understanding of dance and the ability to step into any beginning class with confidence. This class is also strongly recommended for more advanced dancers, as a way to complete PE credit while also returning to and sharpening their skills. All dancers, no matter how advanced, can benefit from a basic class, and these classes are always filled with various skill levels.
Intro II (Level II) is designed for dancers who will benefit from an additional semester of dance fundamentals. This course continues to strengthen dancers’ understanding and execution of functional alignment, ballet fundamentals, and 3 elements of dance: space, time and force (energy). Students continue their exploration of the history and evolution of the world of dance, the immeasurable benefits of dance and movement in their own lives, and they deepen their understanding of their own bodies in relation to injury prevention, strengthening and flexibility, and self-care.
